Hi Ali and Silver. I wanted to let you know how I’ve used your book UBQ. I sat with my 22 year old daughter and we picked a topic and picked a question, this created a lovely conversation in which I understood her thoughts and I could guide her through conversation which was amazing as she didn’t react like I was giving her advice. I can see this might become a regular thing and a great way to explore your book with her. I introduced in a leadership meeting with my leaders yesterday and we simply chose one random question from the change growth chapter. The question ended up being when was the ‘last time you received applause’.  We went around the room and everyone shared some personal some professional replies but it was a positive conversation that bought joy. It prompted many moments of applause for the rest of the day. Thank you … the book is awesome!

I have it in my bag and I know I’ll use it regularly to keep the positivity and connection improving with my team. A perfect tool for leading my managers.

20 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Ali & Silver

Q1. What inspired you to write this book?

We met briefly several years ago at the 2016 MindValley AwesomenessFest in Costa Rica at a Jeffery Allan Workshop and instantly connected.  Having met in an online group facilitated by another MindValley member, Natalie Alexia, we picked up the friendship and started talking on a regular basis.

Living 17,000 km apart (Ali in Australia, Silver in US & France), not knowing if we would ever be in the same room again, we talked every few days online. Our conversation level raised above the panic of the global COVID19 pandemic into something constructive and uplifting. During  conversations, we always seemed to come back to the questions we ask ourselves personally.

In difficult situations, our first instinct is to first question ourselves. Why did I do that? Why didn't I do ... Why am I so stupid?

We are coaches and change-makers, survivors and strategists, creatives and conversationalists, entrepreneurs and everyday women, choosing to accept that we would get through this, but not knowing how.

We will be forever grateful for this lifeline project we took on and the hundreds of questions we asked each other and the profound moments of our friendship as we answered them.

Q2. In short, what's the UBQ book all about?

UBQ is a tool for self development and growth. It consists of provocative questions touching all phases of life, urging you to go deep inside and journey deliciously to the answer that is right for you. UBQ is useful for coaches and for coaching yourself.

This book has 300+ questions across 18 categories, to help you re-remember who you are and to connect to that deserving person.

UBQ is a friend, encouraging you to dare to question and to welcome the answers.

Q3. What is the overall theme of this book?

The power of a good question.

The road of questions ends with the wisdom and tools to make life deeper and richer.

Questions are a way of creating a bridge from one side of thought to another.

We ask ourselves questions, and it reminds us where we are right now- our current thinking, beliefs, attitudes, and values. Our answers, however, may take us to where we want to be, or perhaps where we should be, and that’s exciting.

As coaches, in the search of the right questions, we know we can change a life or at least turn around someone's day. There’s an art to finding the right question, and it takes being present to consider what or who is in front of you. It may be necessary to look beyond the question you want to ask and look for the question that person really wants to be asked.

Be curious with your questions and even more exploratory with your answers. We know that there is always more than one answer to any question.

Our book’s theme is how to become a better you, something  everyone seeks?

Q4. Where does this book take place?

This book takes place in the magical realms of possibility and solutions.

As a non-fiction book, it was written by authors on opposite sides of the globe during a global pandemic - one author in Australia, the other author in the US & France.

This book takes place in a chaotic world of panic and pandemics as a lifeline project. We try and create a safe space to explore the beautiful beings we are within and re-define what we stand for.

Q5. What makes you are co-authors unique?

Ali Fowler and Silver Wainhouse are two women from different backgrounds, cultures, countries yet who found a common DNA in their appreciation that the world they live in, is up to them and how they could help make the world just that little better.

Q6. Why do you think that this book will appeal to readers?

The appeal is because of its simple message - Ask One Question of Yourself Everyday - and follow these simple instructions:

Choose a time when you are completely devoted to yourself. Open the book to any page, and the question will call your eyes to it. You can even close your eyes and let your finger find it for you. There will be a divine reason why that page chose you, and only you will know the right answer for yourself. It’s the very same way we reconnected with ourselves in the writing of this book by asking ourselves one question every day.

Ask the same question a minimum of three times. Write or speak your responses. For the best, most complete answer, ask the question and write or speak your responses until you feel you have all it will take. It worked so well for us—so well, in fact, that we wanted to share it with you and the world.

Share it with your friends, or just enjoy the knowledge alone. Have a private conversation with your soul.

We invite folks  to join us on the unlimited beautiful questions journey. Find a friend, as we did, and share a question a day and your answer. Your friendship will flourish, as ours did. Take the one-question-a-day challenge. @unlimitedbeautifulquestions.com.

So ask yourself one question a day #unlimited #beautifulquestions #askonequestionaday

Q7. Is this book a good read for Book Clubs?

This is a wonderful book for a book club to read. Challenge members to pick the hardest question for them to answer. And the easiest. The discussion can be centred on why they are hard (and easy) questions to answer and the things they learned about themselves and each other. Visit the unlimitedbeautifulquestions.com for ways your book club can participate.

Q8. Do you think coaches and mentors will be able to use this book as well?

The UBQ book is a wonderful coaching and mentoring tool. A must-have book for every coach. Why? Because there is so much content in this book that could be used in any coaching program.

Coaches and mentors can use this book with their clients in any coaching conversation. As we know, asking a question and holding space for the answer can build a connection, establish trust, and create a strong bond.

Some ideas to get you started:

 ●  Choose ten questions as a journal activity for a client or group.

●  Challenge your client to ask a question, prompted by the book, that takes him or her deeper

●  Questions can be used to start a blog post.

Q9. How is your book relevant in today’s society?

Asking questions is not new. It is part of all cultures, and seeking answers is how we grow. Asking questions is powerful. Today, we find ourselves questioning many things we used to take for granted. Where can I go? Who can I be with safely? Who will protect me? Whom do I love? What do I stand for? What do I really need?

In the throes of living, to survive or thrive today, we feel we must morph into what we need to be at that moment. We attempt to latch on to current trends, and change who we are, just to fit in. No judgement here. We do what we need to do, and that’s understood. We all just want to make it ... right?

However, in our quieter, safer moments, when we get the chance to breathe and look up just for a moment, we hear that voice inside us talking softly. “Hi. Hi, I’m here. Are you OK?”

Have you ever had these thoughts?

● I don’t know who I am anymore.

● I have lost that livin’ feeling.

● I thought my life would be different. I thought I would be different.

● Everyone is way more interesting than I am.

Which of these has played in your head or is playing now? These questions are to help you re-remember you before you get lost or quit.

Q10. What will the experience be like reading this book?

Unlimited Beautiful Questions leads you on a journey through a conversation we need to have with ourselves. Bring a flashlight, party favors and lunch because it’s an adventure. We go into caves and climb mountains. We sing and dance, throwing our hands in the air. Invest the time, the joy and the curiosity.  The self that has been covered, cowered, or ignored is waiting to be met.  At the journey’s end, we are bolder, standing straighter as our true selves.

More than ever, especially in the world of Covid, we have time alone. This book makes good use of that time, encouraging the reader to use it for improving the quality of one's life and relationships.

Q11. Is there any subject currently trending in the news that relates to your book?

Yes. Racism and Humanity. Our section on race and humanity is especially relevant now as injustice in all areas has the veils pulled off. We have a whole chapter dedicated to that topic.

Silver wrote that chapter at the time that the Black Lives Matter movement rose up and became a global conversation. It is a powerful chapter to read and create conversations around. It is particularly relevant to empathy and diversity trainers who are working with groups, businesses and organizations, but there is a time for self-reflection for all of us.

As Silver says in the book ‘Let’s be the open door that allows in everyone, equally, respectfully, and graciously. Let's celebrate the diversity of all races and hug humanity and never let go again’ - Page 192

Q12. How does your book differ from other books like it?

There are other books of questions but the way we pose them and the format we have is unique.

We have 18 categories of great questions:

Attitudes and Breakthroughs

Body and Wellness

Change and Growth

Emotions and Self

Fear and Blocks

Legacy and Contribution

Imagination and Dreaming

Life and Lessons

Love and Connection

Money and Abundance

Values and Choices

By exploring the 18 categories, the reader is able to grow and thrive in all areas of life.

Q13. What do you want readers to take away from your writing?

We want them to feel comfortable with asking questions of themselves and others, and in knowing that some answers are found jointly.

That there is always more than one answer to every question. How we feel when we ask the questions matters. We could ask ourselves the same question every day and get a different answer.

Q14. How did you learn about the topic?

We bring a truck load of experience and training. We have attended university, certifications, years of business experience, life experiences, have traveled,  and of course, what we learned in the school of life.

Q15. Do you have favorite questions from the book?

Q16. What was it like to work together on this book?

We had fun and lots of laughs and it was a period of illumination and growth.

Q17. What was your best story in writing this book?

The way one of us would become excited by a question, no matter where we were, and immediately contact the other.

Q18. Is there a favorite category of this book that you will want to talk about the most and why?

Ali - Legacy and Contribution - because legacy is what I’m all about these days!

Silver- Soul and Spirituality. That’s my answer today ( ask me that question tomorrow and I may give a different answer) because it gives me the opportunity to do some great coaching and to easily segue to several of the other categories.

Q19. Is there a particular passage for your book you particularly want to share?

Yes there are many. We are giving away our Chapter 1 on Attitudes & Breakthroughs - simply click on the link below and enjoy.
However, we also like this passage (Page 36 - 38 - From ‘The Value Of Questions’)

What’s in a question, and why should we be asking them?

Questions are a way of creating a bridge from one side of thought to another.

We ask ourselves a question, and it reminds us where we are right now—our current thinking, beliefs, attitudes, and values. Our answers, however, may take us to where we want to be, or perhaps where we should be, and that’s exciting.

So, be ready--whether asking yourself a question leaves you exactly where you are or it transports you to another place.

Is it true the better the question, the better the answer?

Is it true there is always more than one answer to every question?

It is true there is no such thing as a “dumb question”?

Yes. Yes. And yes!

In “Unlimited Beautiful Questions,” we check the “box all of the above.” We know that sometimes we can ask one question and get a certain predictable answer (often the answer that is on replay or default in our minds that we are programmed to repeat), but if we ask a second or follow-up questions, that’s when the magic happens. We often … almost always … OK, every single time … get a different answer. Why?

Some questions get us past our own daily conscious thinking and into a different brain space; our brains go searching to solve the issue and come up with new responses, new answers. We think to get the best answers, right? Perhaps we need to ask more than one question of ourselves, moving beyond the old programmed thinking route so new neural pathways are formed.

Just because our answer today was X to a question, this doesn’t mean our answer tomorrow to the same question needs to be Y.

Grant yourself permission to take the time you need to think.

Grant yourself permission to explore further and dig deeper to get the best answers.

Grant yourself permission to find a new perspective that makes you respond to your question in a different way.

Grant yourself permission to repeat the question to yourself any number of times until you feel you have found your truth.

For example, if you ask yourself this question today, what is your answer?

What does my body feel like eating at this moment?

If you ask this question of yourself at the same time tomorrow, will your answer be the same? Maybe yes, maybe no.

If you ask this question today, what is your answer?

How do I like to be treated by others?

If you ask this question again tomorrow, will your answer change? Maybe? Maybe not. Perhaps an interaction triggers an emotional state, so your response may be more attuned now to that question, and therefore, your answer may vary. And that is perfectly fine.

So, it’s not just about the question itself and the answer you provide. It is also about your environment and state of mind when you ask the question.

Can you set yourself up to ask better questions and get better answers? Absolutely, you can.

The key is being present with yourself, giving yourself the gift of focus and understanding that, at this moment, your job is to ask a question and wait for the answer. Yes, we mean wait.

Have you experienced asking yourself the question, maybe in a time of self-reflection, meditation, or even prayer, and hearing resounding silence? Yup, crickets. No answer comes forward.

The key is to wait. Patiently wait. The answer is there when we quiet our minds as much as we can so we can hear it.

So, you need to prepare yourself well if you want to take on big questions and are looking for equally big answers.

Limit distractions, get comfortable, be intentional, be happy, and then (and only then) ask the question! You will get better answers this way.
